In March 2025, the Chinese Society of Hydraulic Engineering released the Technical Specifications for Modular Metal Flood Barriers (Draft for Comment), establishing unified standards for the first time governing the design, installation, and acceptance of such products. The standard specifies that flood barriers are suitable for embankment heightening projects under 5 meters and urban/industrial flood control projects, with recommended single-span lengths not exceeding 3 meters. The operational temperature range spans -20°C to 70°C.

The specification requires products to possess anti-tilt, anti-slip, and overall foundation stability capabilities. Foundation unevenness tolerance must not exceed 5mm, and bottom waterproofing structures must effectively prevent leakage. Additionally, it mandates that columns must be reinforced with diagonal braces when the waterproofing height exceeds 3 meters. Embedded parts must include protective devices against silt and sediment when in a disassembled state. The implementation of this standard will drive the industry away from non-standard production, enhancing the universality and reliability of flood control panel products.
